STRAY DOG UPDATE

*

By Alan Briere

There has been a lot of interest in the big lost dog that showed up at the Transfer Station, so here's an update.

The lost dog that was raising a fuss at the Transfer Station on September 16th came home with me that night after we got him calmed down. He spent the night with us and turned out to be very lovable. He gives kisses and will even eat watermelon chunks off a toothpick. He got along fine with our three brittanys and the Sanctuary's golden retriever that we were dog sitting. The big guy slept on a comforter next to our bed.

I met the Sullivan county animal control officer on Thursday morning, September 17th, and turned the dog over to her. She had him in quarantine until September 24th and then took him to the Upper Valley Humane Society in Enfield, NH, for evaluation.

We're hopeful his family will be found if he was only lost.  My wife, Cheryl, even thought he may have been with someone at the Jolly Roger Motocross pit and got away from there.
It is possible that he was dumped though.

The dog appears to be a combination of St. Bernard,  Mastiff and Lab.  He  will be up for adoption  soon and he turned out to be a very calm and well-behaved dog quite quickly.

If anyone has any interest in adopting this dog or has any information about the dog's owner please contact the Upper Valley Humane Society in Enfield, NH.
